SYMPTOMS
When you try to install Microsoft WebTV for Windows by using the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel, you may receive the following error message:
The Windows 98 CD was not found in your CD-ROM drive.
CAUSE
This issue can occur for any of the following reasons:
- Your Windows 98 Second Edition CD-ROM is not currently in your CD-ROM drive.
- You installed Windows 98 Second Edition from a flat folder on your local hard disk. The files you need to install Intel Intercast are in the Windows 98 Second Edition CD-ROM Drivers\WebTV\Intercast folder. If you only copy the Win98 folder to your local hard disk, Setup is not able to locate the appropriate files.
- You installed Windows 98 Second Edition from a network share, and you are not currently connected to this network share.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, use the appropriate method:
CD-ROM Is Not Currently in Your CD-ROM Drive
Insert your CD-ROM, and then install the Intercast Components.
Installed From a Flat Folder
To work around this issue, manually install the Intercast Components:
- Insert the Windows 98 Second Edition CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive, and then click Browse this CD. If your computer does not prompt you with this choice when you insert it into your CD-ROM drive, double-click My Computer, right-click your CD-ROM drive, and then click Open.
- Click Drivers, click WebTV, click Intercast, click the Iit22020.exe program, and then follow the instructions on the screen until the installation finishes.
Installed From a Network Share
Connect to the network share you originally installed from, and then install the Intercast Components.
