After you uninstall the Seagate Backup Exec program and the network
protocol it used, you receive a general-protection (GP) fault in BKUPAGNT,
or you may receive the following error message when you restart your computer:
Backup Exec Agent:
Communication transport failure:
The Backup Exec Agent is unable to run because a required network component (DLL) was not found. Please check your network configuration.
This issue can occur because the Seagate Backup Exec program does not remove all of its registry entries when you uninstall it.
WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that
may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot
guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry
Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys
And Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and
Delete Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics
in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it.
Use Registry Editor to delete the BackupExecAgent (BkupAgnt.exe) value
from the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current\Version\RunServices
