Hayes Accura 56K+FAX Modem Detected as a Rockwell 333 DPF ModemID: Q189123
|
Windows 98 Setup detects your Hayes Accura 56K+FAX External modem as a Rockwell 333 DPF External PnP modem.
This behavior occurs because the Hayes Accura 56K+FAX External modem contains an alternate identification string identifying it as a Rockwell 333 DPF External PnP modem. Since Windows 98 does not include a setup information (.inf) file for a Hayes Accura 56K+FAX External modem, the alternate identification string is used.
To resolve this behavior, contact Hayes Microcomputer Products to inquire
about the availability of an updated .inf file. Once you obtain the
updated .inf file, follow these steps to install your Hayes Accura 56K+FAX
External modem:
This behavior is by design.
Using an alternate identification string is considered preferable to a
standard modem, which is typically used when an exact match is not found
during Setup.
If you remove the modem using the Modems tool and then attempt to detect
it using the Add New Hardware tool, it is detected as a standard modem.
