Hewlett-Packard Colorado Backup Does Not Detect Your Tape DriveID: Q189870
|
When you try to use Hewlett-Packard's (HP) Colorado Backup for Windows 95 program in Windows 98, Colorado Backup does not detect your tape drive. This may happen even though your tape drive is listed in Device Manager.
This behavior can occur if Microsoft Backup is currently installed or has been installed in the past.
WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems
that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft
cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of
Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys
And Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and
Delete Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics
in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you
edit it.
To use Colorado Backup instead of Microsoft Backup, uninstall Microsoft
Backup, and then reinstall Colorado Backup. To do so, follow these steps:
File Name Location
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Pnpwprop.dll Windows\System
Pnpwrenu.dll Windows\System
Pnpwfdc.inf Windows\Inf
Pnpwide.inf Windows\Inf

Pnpwtape.cat Windows
For information about how to rename files, click Start, click Help,
click the Index tab, type rename, and then
double-click the "Renaming files" topic to display it.
