SUMMARY
This article describes how to enable or disable the Rich Text Format (RTF)
option when you send mail using the Internet Mail information service for
Microsoft Exchange.
MORE INFORMATION
When you send mail using the Internet Mail information service, you must
enable RTF for each individual recipient. You cannot enable RTF for all
Internet Mail messages, or for an individual message. This behavior
differs from that of the CompuServe Mail information service, which
allows you to enable RTF for all messages, but does not allow you to
enable RTF for an individual recipient or an individual message.
To enable the RTF option for an individual Internet Mail recipient who is
already listed in your personal address book, follow these steps:
- In Microsoft Exchange, click the Address Book button.
- Click the recipient in the list of addresses, and then click Properties
on the File menu.
- Click the "SMTP - Address" tab.
- Click the "Always send to this recipient in Microsoft Exchange rich-
text format" check box to select it.
To enable the RTF option for an individual Internet Mail recipient who is
not already listed in your personal address book, follow these steps:
- In Microsoft Exchange, click the Compose New Message button.
- Type the Internet address of the recipient in the To box, and then
click Check Names on the Tools menu. The Internet address that you
typed becomes underlined.
- Double-click the Internet address that you typed in the To box, and
then click the "Always send to this recipient in Microsoft Exchange
rich-text format" check box to select it. If you also want to add the
recipient to your personal address book, click the Personal Address
Book button.
To enable the RTF option for all messages that you send using the
CompuServe Mail information service, follow these steps:
- In Microsoft Exchange, click Services on the Tools menu.
- Click CompuServe Mail, and then click Properties.
- Click the Default Send Options tab.
- Click the "Send using Microsoft Exchange rich-text format" check box
to select it.
