ICS Cannot Autodial 3rd-Party Internet Dial-Up ConnectionsID: Q229978
|
Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) cannot autodial 3rd-party Internet dial-up connections.
If your Internet Service Provider (ISP) uses a 3rd-party Internet dial-up connection such as America Online (AOL), you must establish the connection manually before you can share the connection with the clients.
For a client to gain access to the Internet using an AOL connection and an ICS host, you must establish the AOL connection manually on the ICS host, and then connect the clients to the Internet.
For additional information about using AOL and an ICS server, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
Q230233 Using AOL behind an ICS ServerNOTE: The Autodial feature in ICS uses the Dial-Up Networking components shipped with Windows 98 Second Edition.
