IEREPAIR Tool Not Accessible in Windows 98 Second EditionID: Q235240
|
The IEREPAIR tool is not available in the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel.
The "Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 and Internet Tools" option that contains the IEREPAIR tool on the Install/Uninstall tab in the Add/Remove Programs tool is removed during Windows 98 Second Edition installation because Internet Explorer 5 is integrated with Windows 98 Second Edition.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
The Internet Explorer 5 IEREPAIR tool is used to replace files that may have been damaged or not installed during the Internet Explorer 5 Setup process. Windows 98 Second Edition removes the "Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 and Internet Tools" option because Internet Explorer is integrated with Windows 98 Second Edition and cannot be uninstalled (the IEREPAIR option is available only from the Internet Explorer 5 Uninstall dialog box).
