Installing from an .inf File Prompts for DiskID: Q151674
|
When you install a program by using the right mouse button to click the
program's .inf file and then clicking Install, you may receive a dialog
box prompting you to insert a disk even if the program is already
on the hard disk. When this occurs, you receive the following prompt:
The disk labeled <name> is now required. This disk is provided by your computer manufacturer. Click OK to continue.
This behavior can occur if the .inf file is located in a folder with a long file name.
To work around this behavior, rename the folder containing the .inf file so that its name conforms to the MS-DOS 8.3 naming convention. You may also need to rename parent folders of the folder containing the .inf file.
