Microsoft Fax Does Not Appear in Add/Remove ProgramsID: Q187549

When you click the Windows Setup tab or the Install/Uninstall tab in the
Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel, you may not see any of the
following programs:
This behavior can occur if the programs listed in the "Symptoms" section are not installed when you upgrade Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows for Workgroups 3.1x to Windows 98.
If you need to install Windows Messaging, Microsoft Fax, or a Microsoft
Mail workgroup post office, follow the steps below.
NOTE: If you are using Microsoft Outlook 97 or Microsoft Outlook 98 and
you want to install Microsoft Fax, you must uninstall Outlook, install
Microsoft Fax, and then reinstall Outlook. For more information, please

While they are not parts of the Windows 98 product, a version of Windows
Messaging, Microsoft Fax, and a Microsoft Mail workgroup post office are
included on the Windows 98 CD-ROM. These programs are made available so
that you can reinstall files if the upgraded components become damaged.
Using these files on non-upgrade installations of Windows 98 was not fully
tested by Microsoft.
Windows Messaging is not intended to work with Exchange Server Client 5.0
and should not be installed on a computer on which Exchange Server Client
5.0 is installed.
