SYMPTOMS

After you install Windows 98 Second Edition, you are unable to use the Repair Internet Explorer tool.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the Repair Internet Explorer tool is no longer available in Windows 98 Second Edition.

NOTE: The Repair Internet Explorer tool is designed to work only with Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft Windows 98, and Microsoft Windows NT 4.0.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

The Repair Internet Explorer tool is found in the Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 and Internet Tools option in the Add/Remove Programs tool. In Windows 98 Second Edition, the Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 and Internet Tools option is no longer available. To reinstall or remove Internet Explorer 5, you must reinstall or remove Windows 98 Second Edition.
