Unable to View Disabled Camera in Device Manager

SYMPTOMS

After you connect your Universal Serial Bus (USB) digital camera to your USB port, you may be unable to view this device in the Device Manager tool.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if the camera was disabled in Device Manager before you removed it. When you reconnect it, Device Manager does not refresh the information it is displaying.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, click Refresh in Device Manager.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows 98.
