Using Internet Connection Sharing with User Profiles

SUMMARY

This article describes how Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) works with user profiles in Windows.

MORE INFORMATION

If you use user profiles in Windows, all of the Internet connections and passwords that you use with ICS need to be available in every user profile.

ICS can connect to the Internet only using cached passwords that are available in the current user profile.

For example, if User1 and User2 both have user profiles on the ICS host computer and User1's profile contains the Dial-Up Networking connection and the cached password for User1 only, then when you connect using the User2 user profile the ICS host computer cannot gain access to the Internet.
