Using Nbtstat in MS-DOS Mode Causes Your Computer to RestartID: Q179239
|
If you restart your computer in MS-DOS mode and use the Network Basic
Input/Output System (NetBIOS) Transport Control Protocol/Internet Protocol
(TCP/IP) Statistic (Nbtstat) tool with any command-line switches, either
of the following symptoms may occur:
Nbtstat is not designed to be used in MS-DOS mode.
If your computer automatically restarts, Emm386.exe is being loaded from
the Config.sys file.
If your computer hangs, Emm386.exe is not being load from the Config.sys file.
To work around this behavior, use Nbtstat in an MS-DOS session within
Windows.
Nbtstat is a command-line TCP/IP tool that is not designed to be used in
MS-DOS mode, but in an MS-DOS session in the Windows environment. Other
TCP/IP command-line tools, such as Arp and Route, generate the following
message:
This program cannot be run in DOS mode.
