Virtual Memory Settings Reset to Default During Upgrade

SYMPTOMS

When you upgrade to Windows 98 Second Edition, your virtual memory settings may be reset to the Windows 98 Second Edition default settings.


CAUSE

If you select custom virtual memory settings before upgrading to Windows 98 Second Edition, the settings are reset to the default values during the upgrade process.


RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, restore your custom settings:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.


  2. Double-click System.


  3. On the Performance tab, click Virtual Memory.


  4. Click Let me specify my own virtual memory settings, select the settings you want, click OK, and then click OK.
