Windows 98 Setup Hangs During File Copy ProcessID: Q195647
|
When you attempt to install Windows 98 on your computer, Windows 98 Setup may stop responding (hang) during the file copy process. You may be able to regain use of your computer by pressing CTRL+ALT+DELETE, clicking "Setup (not responding)," and then clicking End Task.
This behavior can occur if Setup is unable to accurately calculate the
total amount of free space on the drive on which you want to install
Windows 98. This may be caused by third-party programs that report the
actual free space on the drive incorrectly.
To resolve this issue, you need to free enough space on the hard disk to
install Windows 98.
Windows 98 requires 225 megabytes (MB) of available hard disk space for a
typical installation. The amount of free space required can range between
165 MB and 355 MB, depending upon your system configuration and the
options selected.
If you cannot free enough hard disk space to install Windows 98, you may
need to uninstall Windows 98 and revert to your previous operating system.
