Windows 98 Shutdown Screen Appears Before Computer Powers OffID: Q186910
|
If your computer is configured to automatically power off when you shut down Windows 98, the "It's now safe to turn off your computer" message may be displayed briefly on your screen before your computer powers off.
This behavior is a result of the new Fast Shutdown functionality in Windows 98. When you shut down Windows 98 on a computer that supports Advanced Power Management (APM), the Windows 98 shutdown screen (Logo.sys) is displayed at the same time APM procedures are being processed.
This behavior is by design and does not result in loss of functionality.
For more information about Advanced Power Management support in Windows 98, click Start, click Help, click the Index tab, type Advanced, and then double-click the "Advanced Power Management" topic.
