Windows 98 Starts and Runs Very Slowly

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When you start your computer, the Windows 98 startup process may take up to 10 times longer than normal, and Windows 98 may run very slowly.


CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you are running a version of CyberMedia Guard Dog that is not compatible with Windows 98.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, obtain Guard Dog version 1.09 or later from CyberMedia.



To work around this issue, uninstall Guard Dog. For information about how to do so, contact CyberMedia Technical Support.
