Windows Logon Prompt Appears After Using System Configuration UtilityID: Q218630
|
When you restart your computer after using the System Configuration Utility tool to disable the System.ini file, you may be prompted for a Windows password or to change an existing Windows password.
This behavior can occur if the [Password Lists] section of the System.ini file is disabled by System Configuration Utility.
This behavior is by design.
The [Password Lists] section of the System.ini file contains password information that Windows 98 uses when your computer starts. If this section of the System.ini file is not loaded, Windows 98 attempts to replace the password information.
If you start Windows 98 with the System.ini file enabled, the Windows password prompt does not appear.
