Zoomed Video Device Does Not Work in Windows 98

SYMPTOMS

When you upgrade Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows 95 OEM Service Release 1, 2, 2.1, or 2.5 to Windows 98, you may not be able to use your Zoomed Video PC Card device(s).

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if one or more of the following conditions exists:

• The display adapter driver was not updated properly, or an updated driver may be required.



• The Zoomed Video PC Card is not in the correct slot.



• The Zoomed Video device requires third-party socket services.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use any of the appropriate methods:

• Contact the manufacturer of the Zoomed Video device or your Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for updated drivers.



• Make sure that the Zoomed Video PC Card is in the correct slot.
  
  NOTE: Some PC Card controllers enable only one of two sockets. You may need to check the manufacturer's documentation to see if one or both sockets enable Zoomed Video support.



• Enable your third-party PC Card socket services.
  
  NOTE: You may need to check the manufacturer's documentation for information about how to do this.

MORE INFORMATION

Windows 98 supports Video Port Extension (VPE) drivers, and a Video Port Manager (VPM) driver may be installed.

Some VPM drivers may still function with Windows 98, but may need an updated VPE driver.
