Installing SCE Requires MMC 1.0 or Later

SUMMARY

Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6 (SP6) includes Security Configuration Editor (SCE) as an optional component. If you have not installed Microsoft Mangement Console 1.0 or later before you run SCE, you are prompted with a message similar to the following:

The Security Configuration Editor (SCE) requires Management Console 1.0 (MMC) or higher to run. Setup was unable to locate MMC on your system. You can obtain the latest version of MMC from the Microsoft web site http://www.microsoft.com.


MORE INFORMATION

If you have installed MMC 1.0 or later, this prompt does not appear. For more information on SCE, refer to the Readme.txt files included with Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4 and SP6.

SP6 does not include any versions of MMC, which ensures that you download the latest version of MMC from the Microsoft Web site during the installation of SCE.
