| Wordpad.exe May Delete a File With Read Only Permissions While Saving a File With Save AsID: Q231855
 |
When you attempt to save a document in Wordpad using the Save as command, the file may be deleted without being saved if the current user only has read-only permissions to the file.
This problem occurs because the exception handler that was registered for the open dialog box was inadvertently handling the exception by deleting the file.
A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but
it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems
experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely affected by this
specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Windows NT 4.0 service pack
that contains this fix.
