FIX: HTML Help Workshop "Display In Browser" Button Causes Error

• Microsoft HTML Help, versions 1.1, 1.21

SYMPTOMS

When an .htm file is open in HTML Help Workshop and you click Display In Browser, the following error message appears:

The window name "View HTML" passed to HH_GET_WIN_TYPE has not been specified.

RESOLUTION

To view the uncompiled .htm file in a browser, double-click the file in Windows Explorer (outside of HTML Help Workshop).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this bug and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
