FIX: TDI Filter Drivers Require Windows NT 3.51 SP 5 or Higher

The information in this article applies to:

Microsoft Win32 Device Driver Kit (DDK) for Windows NT, versions 3.51, 4.0

SYMPTOMS

Your TDI Filter driver attaches to UDP and TCP and does not see TDI_SEND or TDI_SEND_DATAGRAM IOCTLS. There are other IOCTLS that bypass your filter driver as well.

CAUSE

Netbt.sys passed some IRPs directly to the TCP or UDP device objects without first checking for the presence of a filter device.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This bug was corrected in Windows NT 3.51 SP 5.
