BUG: ADSI NDS Provider Does Not Support Extension of NDS Schema

SYMPTOMS

The ADSI NDS (Novell Netware Directory Service) provider does not support operations extending the NDS schema. If you try to execute the Create method on an NDS schema object, Visual Basic calls fail with runtime error

'445' ("Object doesn't support this action") and C/C++ calls fail with

0x80004001 ("not implemented").

CAUSE

NDS schema extension is not implemented in the release 2.0 provider.

RESOLUTION

Use the Novell NetWare SDK and Client32 to write applications that extend the NDS schema.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this bug and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
