BUG: Out-of-Proc Event Providers Crash WinMgmt (CIMOM) in WMI Build 525

SYMPTOMS

When using build 525 of Microsoft Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI), registering for an event provided by an out-of-process event provider causes WinMgmt (CIMOM) to crash.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in WMI build 525.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Register an out-of-process event provider with WinMgmt.


  2. Run Wbemtest.


  3. Issue a notification query for an event provided by the provider. For example: 
    
select * from myevent


To determine the version of WMI you are using:

Look in the registry at: \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WBEM.

The "Build" value is the build number.
