PRB: SnmpSvcGetEnterpriseOID Not Found When SNMP.exe Is Started

SYMPTOMS

After you have finished installing the SNMP service on Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 3 and you start the SNMP service, it might come up with the following error message:

   Snmp.exe - Entry Point Not Found, the procedure entry point
   SnmpSvcGetEnterpriseOID could not be located in the dynamic link library
   snmpapi.dll.

CAUSE

During the SNMP service installation, an old version of SNMPAPI.dll overwrites the newer one.

RESOLUTION

Step-by-Step Procedures

1. On the Start menu, click Control Panel, click Services, double-click

   your SNMP service, and select Disabled in the Service dialog box.

2. In the I386 directory in your Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 CD, go to
   the %windir%\system32 directory (the directory where Windows NT 4.0 is
   installed) and copy the SNMPAPI.dll.
