The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When using the MIGRATE.APP sample from the Goodies\Misc folder to migrate labels, labels made from dBASE (those with .LBL extensions), do not migrate properly. Instead, the error "Can't open file <filename> for input!" occurs and the label is not migrated.

RESOLUTION

Open the labels on the FoxPro for Windows or MS-DOS platform, and then bring them over to the Macintosh.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

MIGRATE.APP is provided with FoxPro to transform screens, labels, reports, and format files developed in dBASE to the file types that FoxPro can read. Trying to migrate a label file will produce the above mentioned error. The Migrate.app that comes with FoxPro for Windows and MS-DOS will open labels correctly.
