SYMPTOMS

Catalog Manager does not warn the user that modifying the structure of a table may affect screens, reports, or labels in Catalog Manager that use that table.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in FoxPro version 2.6 for Windows and FoxPro version 2.6 for MS-DOS. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

Although Catalog Manager does not warn the user about modifying the structure of a table used by other objects in Catalog Manager, it does display a warning and prevents the user from removing or deleting a table that is used by screens, tables, or labels.

When you are in Catalog Manager, if you attempt to remove a table that is used by screens, tables, or labels the following warning message will be displayed:

   Other files in this catalog are based on Table <table_name.DBF>.
   You must remove related screens, reports, and labels from the
   catalog before removing this file.
