The information in this article applies to:
Sequentially using the ON SELECTION BAR and SET SYSMENU SAVE commands uses two memory handles. If these commands are repeated enough, all memory handles may eventually be allocated, causing the following error message:
Insufficient memory.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in FoxPro versions 2.5, 2.5a, 2.5b, and 2.6 for Windows and FoxPro versions 2.5, 2.5a, 2.5b, and 2.6 for MS-DOS. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
The following code uses two memory handles:
ON SELECTION BAR _mfi_new of _mfile WAIT WINDOW "Testing"
SET SYSMENU SAVE
NOTE: ON SELECTION BAR and SET SYSMENU SAVE are used in the FOXSTART.APP
application. FOXSTART.APP is normally run when FoxPro starts. For more
information about FOXSTART.APP, see the FoxPro online Help topics
"Configuring FoxPro" and "_STARTUP."
Running the following code eventually uses all memory handles, causing the "Insufficient Memory" error message:
DO WHILE .T.
ON SELECTION BAR _mfi_new of _mfile WAIT WINDOW "Testing"
SET SYSMENU SAVE
ENDDO
