The information in this article applies to:
Using the RESTORE WINDOW FROM MEMO or RESTORE WINDOW FROM MEMO command causes an increase in memory used by objects as reported by SYS(1016).
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
To reproduce this problem, issue the following commands in the FoxPro command window. This will use the customer table that is normally in the tutorial directory.
USE tutorial\customer IN 0
DEFINE WINDOW one AT 0,0 SIZE 10,10
DEFINE WINDOW two AT 2,2 SIZE 10,10
ACTIVATE WINDOW one
ACTIVATE WINDOW two
SAVE WINDOW ALL TO MEMO notes
CLEAR WINDOWS
?SYS(1016) && Note this number
RESTORE WINDOW ALL FROM MEMO notes
CLEAR WINDOWS
?SYS(1016) && Note this number.
The second number noted should be larger than the first. Repeating the
following series of commands causes the amount of memory used by objects as
reported by SYS(1016) to get ever larger with each iteration until out of
memory:
RESTORE WINDOW ALL FROM MEMO notes
CLEAR WINDOWS
?SYS(1016) && Note this number.
