BUG: RQBE Hangs FoxPro When the In Descriptor Is Used

SYMPTOMS

When you create a new query and choose the In descriptor under Selection Criteria, no problems occur. However, if you also use the word "IF" as the first word in the Example box followed by anything else, the system hangs when you press the TAB key.

RESOLUTION

To solve this problem, do not use "IF" as the first text string in the Example box. List any other text string as the first example, followed by the "IF" text string.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

WARNING: Close all running applications and save your data before following this procedure.

1. In the Command window, issue the following commands:

      SET DEFAULT TO c:\<foxpro directory>\tutorial
      USE customer
      CREATE QUERY

2. Under Selection Criteria, select any character field; for example,
   select CONTACT.

3. Select In.

4. In the Example box, type "IF" (without the quotation marks).

5. Type a comma (,) and then type anything else.

6. Press TAB.

The system will hang.
