When you log on to a server using the FoxPro 2.5x Connectivity Kit (CK), the information in the Database Name section of the Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) manager is ignored and FoxPro automatically uses the database assigned to the user by the Server Administrator.
The Master Database is the default database for a Structured Query Language (SQL) Server System Administrator. If the System Administrator used the CK to connect to a SQL Server Database and tried to view data without explicitly opening a database through the CK, the retrieved data comes from the Master Database. This happens in spite the fact that another database was specified in the ODBC Manager.
This behavior was by design in the 2.5x CK, but has been enhanced in the 2.6x and 3.00 Connectivity Kits. The information provided by the user in the Database Name section of the ODBC Manager is used and is no longer ignored.
Note: If the 2.5x version of FPSQL.FLL is installed with later versions of FoxPro for Windows, this same problem occurs.
