The information in this article applies to:
You see the error message "Unknown error code -50" when starting FoxPro for Macintosh on a workstation when FoxPro is installed on a network file server with an Administrative Installation.
The "Variable 'WZIHANDLE' not found" error message will follow the first error if you choose Ignore on the first message. FoxPro will appear to operate normally if you choose Ignore on both error messages.
These errors occur when FoxPro cannot find a CONFIG.FPM file when starting.
Make sure there is a CONFIG.FPM file that FoxPro can find upon startup. It can be in the file server folder/directory where FoxPro is installed and does not have to contain any commands.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Visual FoxPro for Macintosh, version 3.0b.
For more information on how to install FoxPro on a network, please see the FoxPro Readme - Network file installed in the Microsoft FoxPro version 2.6 folder and pages 6 through 9 in the Microsoft FoxPro for Macintosh "Installation and Macintosh Features Guide." For more information on the CONFIG.FPM file, please see pages 31 through 38 in the Microsoft FoxPro for Macintosh "Installation and Macintosh Features Guide."
