The information in this article applies to:
Creating a report with the Report Writer that has a small column width will fill the page with columns, even if you set the Columns setting in Page Layout. It seems to ignore the Columns setting and fills the page with columns even though the picture in Page Layout shows the results you want.
Make the page size only as wide as the column you want to print, or upgrade to Visual FoxPro 3.0 where the bug was fixed.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Visual FoxPro version 3.0.
In FoxPro version 2.6:
1. Create a new report.
2. Add one field (Cno) from the \Fpw26\Tutorial\Customer.dbf table to the
detail band.
3. On the Report menu, click Select Page Layout, type 2 in columns, and put
a 1 in the second spinner box (column width). Look for an example of
your layout on the left that shows two small columns.
4. On the Report menu, click Page preview to see more than three columns.
