The information in this article applies to:
A group header band will not print if the previous group had a widow and Reprint Header On Subsequent Pages check box was selected in the Group Info dialog box.
If Reprint Header On Subsequent Pages is not selected, group headers will be displayed for each group regardless of widows.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Visual FoxPro 3.0 for Windows.
An orphan is a single (or partial) line printed at the bottom of the first page from a single record, and a widow is a single (or partial) line printed on the second page from that same record.
1. Select the SALESMAN database, or any database with a memo field.
2. Design a report with the "Top--Field Can Stretch" option selected for
the memo field.
3. Order the database, and create a grouping and a group header band.
4. In the Group Info dialog box, select the Reprint Header On Subsequent
Pages check box.
5. Adjust the memo field width and the Detail band height so that the memo
field will print a widow on the second page.
Note that the second page will show the widow with the group header
printing first. The next group will start with no group header.
