The information in this article applies to:
Executing the INSERT BEFORE command overwrites data in the current record when CODEPAGE=AUTO and a table (.DBF file) is marked with any codepage other than 1252 (Windows ANSI) or 0 (no code page is set).
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in FoxPro version 2.6a for Windows.
1. Set CODEPAGE=AUTO in your CONFIG.FPW file.
2. Load FoxPro for Windows, and execute this code:
SET EXCLUSIVE ON
USE \FPW26\TUTORIAL\CUSTOMER
3. Select any codepage other than 1252 when the dialog that allows you to
set the codepage for the table appears.
4. Issue the INSERT BEFORE command.
5. Enter new data into one of the fields in the edit window that appears.
Save the changes when the data from the current record appears.
6. Issue the BROWSE command. The record that was current when you issued
the INSERT BEFORE command has been overwritten with the new data.
7. Go to the last record in the table to see that it is now blank.
