The information in this article applies to:
Issuing the MODIFY WINDOW SCREEN FILL FILE <picture file> command doesn't cause the fill file to show on the FoxPro screen unless the Command window is moved or some other action is taken to cause the desktop to refresh.
Here are two ways to get the fill file to show up:
-or-
@ 0,0 SAY " " & note the space between the quotation marks
CLEAR
The @...SAY command leaves a rectangular space character in front of the
fill file at the coordinates specified (0,0 above). The CLEAR command
removes this space.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Visual FoxPro 3.0b for Macintosh.
This problem will most affect applications that modify the desktop screen at startup. The complete workaround would be to combine the three commands listed below in the program that modifies the desktop screen.
Do not use the mouse when attempting to reproduce the problem. Using the mouse may cause the Command window to be moved accidentally; then the problem doesn't show up.
In the FoxPro Command window, issue the following commands:
MODIFY WINDOW SCREEN FILL FILE SYS(2004)+"tutorial:east.pict"
* Note that the fill file does not appear.
@ 0,0 SAY " " & note the space character between the quotation marks.
CLEAR
* The fill file should now appear.
