ACC2: Find Does Not Locate Existing Item in dBASE Database

When you search for a string in an attached dBASE database, the string is
not found, even though the string does exist in the dBASE database.
CAUSE
This problem only occurs if you search for the string in the attached
database using the wrong case and without selecting the Match Case check
box first.
RESOLUTION
In the Find dialog box, select and then clear the Match Case check box
before choosing either of the Find buttons.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Access version
2.0. This problem no longer occurs in Microsoft Access version 7.0.

Steps to Reproduce Problem
- Start Microsoft Access and open any database.
- From the File menu, choose Attach. In the Data Source box, select dBASE
IV, then choose OK. In the File Name box, select the dBASE IV database
file NEWCUST.DBF, then choose Attach. (The NEWCUST.DBF file is usually
located in the SAMPAPPS subdirectory.) In the Select Index Files dialog
box, choose Close. Choose OK when you get a message stating
"Successfully attached 'NEWCUST'. Choose Close.
- Open the NEWCUST table in Datasheet view.
- Select the CITY column.
- From the Edit menu, choose Find.
- In the Find What box, type portland and then
choose Find First. Note that no string is found.
- Select the Match Case check box and then choose Find First. Note that no
string is found.
- Clear the Match Case check box and choose Find First. Note that the
first "Portland" text string is found.
