The information in this article applies to:
When the selection cursor is in the file list (that is, the file list has the focus), the hot keys do not work.
Press TAB to move the selection cursor out of the file list.
Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
The hot keys (also known as access keys) are normally activated by pressing the key that matches the highlighted letter in a button. For example, the Add button is activated by pressing the A key. When the focus is in the file list, however, pressing a key moves the selection cursor to a file whose first letter matches the key pressed, not to the matching hot key object.
NOTE: Although this behavior can be reproduced in FoxPro for Windows, this is not a problem because hot keys are chosen in a Windows product by pressing the ALT+<key> key combination. Therefore, even if the selection cursor is in the file list, pressing ALT+A chooses the Add button.
1. If the Catalog Manager is not displayed, choose Catalog Manager from the
File menu.
2. If prompted to select a catalog, choose New.
If a catalog automatically opens, choose New Catalog from the File menu.
3. Save the catalog as TEST.FPC.
4. Select the Table tab. Choose Add.
5. Select CUSTOMER.DBF from the TUTORIAL subdirectory in the main FoxPro
directory. Choose Add.
6. Select Customer in the Table file list. The selection cursor should
highlight the word "Customer."
7. Press the U key. Note that nothing happens (the Use button is not
chosen).
NOTE: To work around this behavior, press the TAB key to leave the file
list, and then press the U key. This chooses the Use button as expected.
