PRB: SQL Cursor Name with Blanks Causes "Invalid Name"

SYMPTOMS

Sending output from the RQBE window to a cursor whose name contains a blank causes the following error message:

   Invalid name

CAUSE

Cursors are alias names, which cannot contain blanks.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

Although Macintosh files can contain blanks, aliases cannot.

An alias can consist of up to 10 letters, digits, or underscores and it must begin with a letter or an underscore.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

1. Assuming FoxPro is installed in a folder (directory) named "FoxPro/Mac"

   and the volume (drive) name is "Macintosh HD", type the following
   command in the Command window:

      USE "Macintosh HD:\FoxPro/Mac\Tutorial\Customer"

2. From the Run menu, choose New Query.

3. In the Output list box, select Cursor.

4. In the Name text box, type "My Query" (without the quotation marks).

5. Choose Do Query.
