SUMMARY

To run the Extended (32-bit) version of FoxPro 2.0 for MS-DOS with the Microsoft Windows version 3.0 or 3.1, do the following:

1. Use MS-DOS version 5.0, or higher as the operating system.

2. Use the EMM386.EXE file provided with MS-DOS to provide expanded

   memory. The sample lines below provide 2 megabytes of expanded memory.

      DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS
      DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE RAM 2048

3. Run Windows in standard mode.

MORE INFORMATION

NOTE: Windows version 3.11 for Workgroups does not run in Standard mode.

This is just one factor in the configuration of a machine. It is recommended to upgrade to the latest version of FoxPro, which can use the same memory configuration setup for Windows.

NOTE: In MS-DOS 6.0 and 6.2, a multi-config option is available which can be helpful. Using it, you can decide whether to boot to a configuration optimized for Windows, or for FoxPro 2.0 Extended.

For more information about the MS-DOS 6.0 and 6.2 multiple- configuration feature, refer to the "Using Multiple Configurations" section of Chapter 4 in the "User's Guide" or type "help multiconfig" (without the quotation marks) at the MS-DOS command prompt to access MS-DOS Help.
