ACC: Cannot Import/Link Data in Enabled DatabaseID: Q135372
|
When you open a database created with an earlier version of Microsoft
Access without converting the database, you are unable to link or import
data. You see one of the following error messages:
In Microsoft Access 97:
The Get External Data command on the File menu is unavailable.
The Import command on the File menu's Get External Data submenu is unavailable.
You can either convert the database to the version of Microsoft Access you're opening it with or use the version of Microsoft Access the database was created in to open the database and import the data.
This behavior is by design.
For more information about opening Microsoft Access databases created in previous versions of Microsoft Access, search the Help Index for "opening databases, created in previous versions of Microsoft Access," or ask the Microsoft Access 97 Office Assistant.
