DOCUMENT:Q170498 08-NOV-2001 [frontpg] TITLE :FP: Access Permissions Applied at Web-level Not Per File Basis PRODUCT :Word Front Page PROD/VER:windows:1.0,1.1,97, macintosh:1.0 OPER/SYS: KEYWORDS:kbusage kbdta ====================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The information in this article applies to: - Microsoft FrontPage 97 for Windows with Bonus Pack - Microsoft FrontPage for Windows, versions 1.0, 1.0a, 1.1 - Microsoft FrontPage for the Macintosh, version 1.0 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For a Microsoft FrontPage 98 version of this article, see Q194356. SUMMARY ======= In FrontPage Explorer, you can manage access to FrontPage Web files in the Permissions dialog box on the Tools menu. These permissions are applied at the Web level only. Tighter control of permissions on subfolders or files is not available. By design, when FrontPage Editor saves an edited file, the original file is deleted and it is replaced by a temporary copy created during the editing process. When the new file is placed in the directory on the Web server it inherits the access control settings of the FrontPage Web into which it was saved.
