SYMPTOMSAfter you install the FrontPage Server Extensions on the Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS), Microsoft Peer Web Services for Windows NT Workstation 4.0, or the Microsoft Personal Web Server for Windows 95, Windows NT Challenge/Response (NTLM) password authentication is enabled. You are not notified that this change has taken place.
MORE INFORMATIONFrontPage 97 uses NTLM encryption to pass passwords to the Web server whenever possible due to the security and performance advantages afforded by NTLM. You can disable NTLM authentication, by following these steps:
