FP98: "No Records Returned" Received When Posting to Database

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft FrontPage 98, when you use the INSERT INTO Structured Query Language (SQL) command with the Database Region Wizard, you may receive the following message when you open the Active Server Page (ASP) in a Web browser: 

   No Records Returned.

CAUSE

The Microsoft FrontPage 98 Database Region Wizard supports the SELECT SQL statement rather than the INSERT INTO SQL statement. When you run the Database Region Wizard, FrontPage assumes you are trying to use a SELECT statement and because it does not find the data that was specified, you will receive the message described in the "Symptoms" section.

RESOLUTION

To use advanced database queries with ASP, create a custom script by using Visual Basic Scripting (VBScript) or JScript that will perform these SQL queries.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
