The following components are browse-time components:

Determining Whether You Are Using a Disk-based Web or Server-based Web

To determine whether you have a disk-based Web or a server-based Web, open your Web in FrontPage Explorer and look at the title bar. If the title of your Web contains a drive letter and one or more backslashes, like this:

   c:\myweb
your Web is disk-based.

If the title of your Web contains "http" and forward slashes, like this
http://myweb
your Web is server-based.

SYMPTOMS

When you browse an HyperText Markup Language (HTML) page that contains a FrontPage component, either by clicking the Preview tab at the bottom of the FrontPage window or by clicking the Preview In Browser button on the Standard toolbar, you may receive the following error message:

This page contains elements that may need to be saved or published to display properly.

CAUSE

FrontPage components that interact with a Web server will not function when you create a disk-based FrontPage Web. Browse-time components will only function when using a HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP) server on which you have installed the FrontPage 98 Server Extensions.

Method 1: If You are Using Components that Interact with a Web Server

Publish Active Server Pages and/or the Internet Database Connector on one of the following server configurations:

Method 2: If You are Using Browse-Time Components

You can enable FrontPage browse-time components by publishing your disk-based Web to an HTTP server. For more information about publishing a FrontPage Web to an HTTP server, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
