When you use H/PC Explorer to copy or move a file from your Handheld PC (H/PC) to your desktop computer or vice versa, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:
Could not transfer one or more of the selected file(s) to the
specified destination. A temporary folder will be created containing
temporary copies of these files. A shortcut called "HPC Explorer
Recovered Files" will be placed on the Windows Desktop.
Warning: The temporary files will be deleted upon the next error of
this type. To avoid having these files permanently deleted, you
should immediately copy these temporary files to another folder. The
folder will now be opened, please copy the files to another folder
at this time.
Conversion failed. The file name is too long.
These symptoms occur when the file you are attempting to copy or move has a very long file name or path.
To work around this problem, rename the file using a shorter file name, and then attempt to copy or move the file again.
NOTE: If you receive the first error message listed above, copy the file from the temporary folder to another folder to avoid data loss.
Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
