The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 4.0, 4.01 for Windows 95
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 4.0, 4.01 for Windows NT 4.0

SUMMARY

In Internet Explorer 4.0 and 4.01, the BACKSPACE key, ALT+LEFT ARROW key combination, Back button, and Back command on the Go menu behave differently from Internet Explorer 3.x.

MORE INFORMATION

When you go back to a previously viewed page in Internet Explorer 4.0 or 4.01, any script on the previously viewed page is run. In Internet Explorer 3.x, going back to a previously viewed page containing a script redisplays the completed page you last saw instead of running the script again.

This change was made as an enhancement to Internet Explorer.
