After you install Internet Explorer, system files may appear on the desktop even if you have configured Windows 95 to hide system files.
This behavior can occur if you have system files on the desktop and you have installed the Windows Desktop Update component.

.drv Device driver
System files may be on the desktop if you have installed a program to the
desktop or if you have saved system files to the desktop. System files on
the desktop can interfere with the installation or operation of some
programs.
