SYMPTOMSWhen you unsubscibe from a newsgroup, the newsgroup may still appear in the "Local file(s) for" list in the Local File Clean Up dialog box.
CAUSEThis behavior can occur if the Sublist.dat file is not properly updated after you unsubscribe from a newsgroup.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, rename the Sublist.dat file for the news server that you want to update. To do so, use the following steps: NOTE: After you perform the following steps, all newsgroups for this server are removed, and you may need to resubscribe to them.
STATUSMicrosoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
MORE INFORMATIONThe Sublist.dat file contains the list of subscribed news groups. When you unsubscribe from a newsgroup, the newsgroup is no longer listed in the folder list, however the newsgroup may appear in the Local file Clean Up list.
